An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic physiotherapist with an interest in cardiorespiratory to join our well-established and friendly team on a permanent basis. The Team provides services to patients in the following area: General ITU, Head and Neck and Urology which includes access to, general surgery and major trauma patients. Cardiothoracic ITU including CCU, out of hospital cardiac arrests, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology and thoracics. Medical Respiratory including the Acute Medical Unit, A& E and Resus, Renal and Respiratory Wards including NIV and tracheostomy management. Post Critical Care rehabilitation (including outreach work and post-discharge follow up). Community respiratory liaison including respiratory outpatients and pulmonary rehabilitation. The post holder will be supported to participate in the education and training of other MDT members, rotational staff and non-respiratory staff who cover night on call duties. We have close links with St Georges University and there are also opportunities to participate in the training of undergraduates as part of their core respiratory modules. Main duties of the job This posts are responsible for specialist physiotherapy provision to respiratory outpatients and the thoracic ward (Caroline). They are the only posts providing input to these clinical areas. In addition to providing clinical input, the posts are integral to service planning, goal setting, and service development within the respiratory physiotherapy domain. The posts plays a crucial role in identifying gaps in services and implementing strategies for service improvement. The post provides clinical and operational leadership to respiratory physiotherapy services across MedCard and provide mentorship and development for those needing to gain competency to work independently whilst covering weekend respiratory services and overnight respiratory on call to deteriorating patients. Part of this is the provision of specialized knowledge and training/development to rotational staff to ensure high quality patient care is provided with optimum treatment outcomes.
