We are looking for a dynamic and highly skilled clinician experienced in all aspects of the management of musculoskeletal disorders with a specific interest in the upper limb. A forward thinking clinician with the skills to combine highly specialist clinical practice with innovation you will be committed to following best practice and the development and promotion of high quality physiotherapy services. As a clinical lead within the team you will have demonstrable leadership qualities and excellent communication and time management skills with proven abilities to build networks across sites and disciplines. Although advertised as Part-Time (33.5 hours/week) there may be an opportunity to negotiate an increase in hours if possible and appropriate. Main duties of the job Although based in Newport, the role will support the neighbouring County Hospital in Pontypool and assist in the strategic development of musculoskeletal and upper limb physiotherapy services throughout the Health Board, across the spectrum from primary care to secondary care. You will be responsible for working with medical and surgical colleagues to identify and implement new models of care that enhance the ability of the physiotherapy service to support the Health Board to deliver high quality, evidence based care and contribute to service sustainability. You will be expected to work with and advise the Consultant Physiotherapist, MSK Senior Physiotherapy Manager and the Management team to inform future service development and will jointly ensure all physiotherapy musculoskeletal services delivered across the Health Board comply with the requirements of clinical governance. Person Specification Qualification Essential • Masters level qualification • IRMER qualification • Range of post grad clinical education • Active participation in a relevant national clinical interest group Desirable • Injection Therapy qualification • Supplementary or independent prescribing qualification • Evidence of expert witness training Experience Essential • Held senior position in MSK Physiotherapy • Experience of first point of contact in clinical management of patients • Experience of and commitment to clinical and organisational audit and research • Experience of and commitment to teaching at an undergraduate and postgraduate level both locally and nationally • Experience of working closely with medical practitioners • Experience of leading the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and standards • Experience of integrating user participation in service development • Experience of presenting evidence and evaluations to stakeholders Desirable • Published work in recognised journal • Experience of presenting at national/international conferences • Held Clinical Specialist position in MSK Physiotherapy Skills Essential • Good written communication skills • The ability to facilitate reflective practice and learning in others • The ability to design and lead a training programme • Awareness of relevant national and local clinical guidelines • I T Literate Desirable • The ability to manage personnel issues • Coaching experience or qualification Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
