Are you looking for a Band 7 Highly specialist Physiotherapist and Team Leader role, working with critically ill patients? Developing your critical care speciality allows time with adult patients to start their rehabilitation journey right from the start. Our caseload is of varied age groups and conditions from longer stay neurology or spinal patients to short stay frail patients undergoing surgery. The Critical care unit (CCU) currently has 14 funded beds but there may be opportunity for an extended bed base. The Acute Respiratory Care Unit is an 8 bedded unit also offering fulfilling opportunities to work with patients with long-term conditions Are you looking to work creatively and innovatively with the established MDT Physio team and develop the service in CCU and onto the surgical wards? You would also be joint team lead in the Surgery and CCU therapy team with a Band 7 Occupational Therapist. Flexibility to work on a 7 day rota is required, participate in the on-call rota, along with the need to support other therapy teams within the Trust. We have a team of dedicated therapists including a static B6 physio and B4 rehab assistant. There is also a clinical specialist physiotherapist who will work closely with you. Having a vision for a service as an AHP and then making it happen is what you trained for Main duties of the job • To be jointly responsible for the operational leadership and development of therapy provision (including occupational therapy and physiotherapy) within Critical Care, Acute Respiratory Care Unit and surgical areas, providing specialist therapy input to planning, development and evaluation of clinical services within Critical Care, Acute Respiratory care Unit and Surgery, holding responsibility for defined projects. • To manage an appropriate clinical caseload of patients with very complex needs within a defined specialism/area • To provide professional leadership involving recruitment, supervision, appraisal and support and development of therapy staff • To take lead role in the training of qualified and support staff, students and other members of MDT • To contribute to the overall maintenance and development of the therapy service • To work a shift pattern flexibly over a 7 day period across multiple locations including the need to work weekends and extended hours into the evenings as required by service demand. • To fully participate in physio respiratory on-call service for adults, assist in organisation and day to day running of this service. Person Specification Qualifications Essential • BSc /MSc Physiotherapy • MCSP • State Registered Physiotherapist • Evidence of continuing professional development including a range of post-graduate courses • Advanced respiratory courses • LEO / leadership Desirable • MSc in respiratory care or intention to achieve • Audit • Computer literacy Experience Essential • Post registration experience or focussed practice equivalent • Proven interest and expertise in the field of respiratory care across the specialities, including Critical Care, Acute Respiratory Care Unit, Surgery, Medical, Stroke and Neurology. • In-service training and reflective learning in this speciality in addition to ability to educate physiotherapists, students and a wider multi-disciplinary team • Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner • Prioritisation of workload for the team, understanding the pressures of throughput for the Trust • Directing patient care Desirable • Experience of managing assistants / technicians • Ability to build effective working relationships with patients/carers/ colleagues • Membership of SIG • Supervision of students in any environment • Experience of evidencing and auditing practice Knowledge Essential • In-depth Knowledge of relevant diagnoses and their management • Principles and practices of rehabilitation applied to respiratory care • Current evidence based practice Desirable • Falls re-education linked to health education • Benefits of exercise and education in pulmonary rehabilitation
